Narratives
To tell you the truth, I decided to write this blog post because I'm procrastinating on writing my second narrative. Feeling a little discouraged because my personal narrative rough draft is 1000+ words and I haven't wrapped up the story yet; hopefully revising it in class tomorrow will give me some suggestions of what I can cut out of it so that it's a full story under 750 words. Also discouraged because I feel like I do not have enough creativity to write something interesting and fictional. I wish we followed through with the 5 page narrative assignment at this point, but I know it's all a learning process so it'll figure out how to make it work eventually.

Going Home
This past weekend I went home for a couple of reasons; 1) my brother is a junior in high school and he had homecoming so I wanted to be there for pictures, 2) my birthday was close by (Mon. Sept 28th), and 3) it just felt like the right time to visit. I had to pay $50 for a roundtrip bus ticket to downtown Chicago and $6 to ride the train into my suburban hometown of Downers Grove. It's a 2 and a half hour car ride that turned into 5 hours by public transportation. It was worth it and I will do it again since it means I get to see my family and friends and sleep on a real mattress for a couple of nights.

Last Thursday in class was the first time I had forgotten to do my reading for this class. I know that homework is important in every class to help retain information and continue the learning process outside of class time, but it helped me see how critical it is; especially in a class of 5 people. I will be trying my best to keep up so that my classmates and I can get the best experience possible out of this class. I hope my class feels the same way as well so we can grow together as writers.

Get to Know Me!
Hi everyone, I'm going to use my first blog of English 1050 to introduce myself to all 6 of you who are in my class and anyone else who might stumble upon this.
My name is Shannon Galway, I grew up in Downers Grove which is a suburb of Chicago. I've played volleyball since 3rd grade and played for my high school, but am just going to stick with intramurals and recreational play at WMU. I'm currently dorming in Western Heights East. To be honest, it's kind of like living in a hotel. I love dogs (even though I've never owned one), the color white, watermelon, and chocolate. I'm more of a math-science person, but I'm looking forward to this class to become more well-rounded. Looking forward to getting to know you guys!
